THE PROJECT
The overall objective of the Action is to study efficiency improvement of conventional and renewable Natural Gas Vehicles (NGV) market in the whole Atlantic Corridor (Portugal, Spain and France), the North Sea-Mediterranean Corridor (France) and the Spanish Mediterranean Corridor (Spain) through new technologies and innovative solutions for supply logistic services, cleaner fuels, refuelling infrastructure, vehicle and components manufacturers and operational processes. This study, in the form of real-life trial, aims to allow a quick deployment of LNG and CNG by significantly bringing unit cost down while improving the understanding of client’s needs.
THE PROJECT

More than 200 NGVs will participate in the real-life trials, directly and indirectly to ensure the use of the stations and, hence, securing the collection and analysis of meaningful operational data to feed the study. Furthermore, at least 30 will be monitored to analyse technology performance, vehicle emissions and fuel economy over several routes.
Improve air quality and reduce emissions from road transport sector compared to Diesel. Natural Gas Vehicles (NGVs) will emit 30% less CO2 emissions, 85% less NOx and will virtually emit zero particulate matter (95%), while in turn makes less noise (around 10dB less). Additionally, it will suppose up to 37% of fuel savings compared to Diesel.
ECO-GATE will implement and test enhanced L-CNG and CNG refuelling stations with a large amount of innovative solutions and technology capable to reduce the overall investment cost between 10 and 20%, according to each situation, condition and type of station, as well as to reduce operational expenditures, improve sustainability, efficiency, reliability, management and accessibility of the refuelling stations.

DESCRIPTION
NEDGIA was founded in 2018 and is part of Naturgy Energy Group, S.A. (previously Gas Natural Fenosa Group). The company´s line of business includes the transmission and/or distribution of natural gas to the households from around 1,200 municipalities from Spain. NEDGIA is also in charge of the distribution and commercialization of LPG by gas pipe-line.
ROLE
In ECO-GATE project, NEDGIA will be in charge of coordination and supervision of the overall action. Moreover, the company will contribute in ECO-GATE by developing and operating 1 enhanced L-CNG refuelling stations with innovative technologies and solutions at the Port of Barcelona, as well as it will test and study mixtures of conventional natural gas with renewable & biomethane through a supply point that will be placed in Madrid, along the Atlantic Road Core Network.
GALP
DESCRIPTION
GALP is an integrated energy company – finding and extracting oil and natural gas from sites across four continents to deliver energy to millions of customers every day. Their activities span from exploration and production of oil and natural gas to refining and marketing oil products, natural gas marketing and sales and power generation.

UTAD
DESCRIPTION
Situated in the north-eastern city of Vila Real, the Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro University (UTAD) was created in 1973 as a Polytechnic Institute and became a fully-fledged Public University in 1986. UTAD is one of the younger universities in Portugal and has been involved in shaping the national higher education background. By choosing teaching and research fields that meet the national needs and are not yet exhausted on the labour market, the university was also instrumental in the development of the region where it is located, creating jobs and providing courses directed at the needs of the region and its population
ROLE
UTAD’s role, in ECO-GATE project, is to develop studies that can lead to innovative technology which can be applied in the LNG/CNG stations built for the operators
PUERTO DE GIJÓN
DESCRIPTION
The PORT OF GIJÓN is one of the main seaports of the Atlantic Arc and is the leading port for solid bulk movement in Spain. Its facilities are suited to new market requirements in terms of depths, quays and storage areas and provide services with the best quality standards. At the Port of Gijón is located the main Spanish bulk discharge terminal (EBHISA), with an annual turnover around 14 to 15,000,000 tons, of which 40% are approximately transported annually by truck.

The PORT AUTHORITY OF GIJON will have an important role in the ECO-GATE action, especially related on the communication and dissemination activities, as well as on the implementation of the deployment plan after project consecution.
PUERTO DE HUELVA
DESCRIPTION
The PORT OF HUELVA is now one of the biggest logistic and industrial hubs and economical engine for the development of Huelva and the whole of Andalucía. A reference Port in the European South-west, a modern, proactive and very competitive Port.
Because of this intense activity, the Port of Huelva have become one of the most important Ports in Spain and with a major projection for the future. This is a fact and so it shows the record figures of the Port traffic with which we have closed 2016 annual exercise with a total of 30,5 million of tones. Moreover, they have the intention of improve on these figures this present year that will state our Port as one of the most relevant of the Ports Spanish System.
ROLE
The PORT AUTHORITY OF HUELVA will have an important role in the ECO-GATE action, especially related on the communication and dissemination activities, as well as on the implementation of the deployment plan after project consecution.
CETIL
DESCRIPTION
CETIL DISPENSING TECHNOLOGY, S.L. inherits the experience of more than 60 years of CETIL, S.A. and more than 45 years of MEDICIÓN Y TRANSPORTE, S.A. in the field of fuel handling. During all these years, both companies have been Spanish leaders in the field of pump and refuelling devices and other products related with the use and measurement of fuel and other oil-related products. To optimize resources and reorganize the structure to move forward to the internationalization of the company, in 2015 CETIL DISPENSING TECHNOLOGY, S.L. was founded, keeping the same core of shareholders and management board.
ROLE
CETIL DISPENSING TECHNOLOGY, S.L will develop and implement smart dispensers capable to monitor and record in real-time the main operating parameters (pressure, temperature, flows, etc.), while, in turn, to detect and inform the operator about operating condition deviations or process dynamics anomalies. Moreover, the company will also test and evaluate a technology to measure in real-time the fuel discharge from the LNG supply tanks in an accurate and cost-effective way.

DESCRIPTION
The IMDEA network of institutes was created in accordance with the IV Regional Scientific Investigation and Technology Innovation Plan (PRICIT 2005-2008) of the Community of Madrid with the aim of satisfying social needs through R+D+I (Research, Development and Innovation) and passing them on to society.
The IMDEA institutes (acronym for Madrid Institute of Advanced Studies) were set up under the legal form of a foundation, with around seven strategic areas for the society of Madrid from a business, scientific and technological point of view: water, diet, energy, materials, nanoscience, networks and software.

DESCRIPTION
AUDIGNA is a society focused on working areas related to innovation and creation. AUDIGNA performs works of varied spectrum in projects or activities related to R & D, Technology and Innovation. Program management, product introduction strategies, creation of “task force” to solve problems are lines of work typical of this field of action, among others.
ROLE
The company will test and study mixtures of conventional natural gas with renewable & cleaner fuels (H2) capable to be used directly in current NGVs, while, in turn, it contributes to bridge the gap between conventional fuel and renewable fuels. To that end, AUDIGNA will install and test an HCNG supply point in a real-life trial.

The company supply the gas, transport the LNG and transform the energy installation of your industry (Gas Receptor Tank and the modification of burners, the LNG satellite plant and so on).
The company has more than 200 regasification plants built in Europe in the past decade. Moreover, with a fleet of over 120 tanks for LNG road transport, MOLGAS is the leading company of LNG transportation. We are currently delivering 7.000 GWh, per year (worth over 210 million€) through Europe

DESCRIPTION
INVERSORA MELOFE, S.L. (from now on Melofe) is a company born in 1990. It focuses, among others, on the provision of administrative services and management of all kinds of companies, preparation of studies and provision of advice, consulting and logistics, quality commercial assessor, purchasing, distribution and sales advice, advice for the establishment of business lines discount and credit in general as well as commercial and merchant services in general and the real estate management specialized mostly in conventional service stations and new fuels.
It currently leads the global management of 13 service stations, managing the day-to-day at an operational level, accounting, financial and tax, as well as the legal requirements and compliance with regulations. These stations are owned by MEGINO, S.L, a company located in Madrid since 1968, which is dedicated exclusively to the operation of service stations and with whom MELOFE has a partnership contract.
MELOFE has also made new construction of service stations and expansion of others already built for the incorporation of new fuels. It has a specialized internal technical department to undertake and supervise all large projects and new promotion in addition to a team for monitoring and maintenance of facilities.

GNV
DESCRIPTION
DOUROGAS has a leading role in the business of NGV in Portugal. Dourogás aims at implementing a national filling stations network of natural gas to vehicles, becoming the first Portuguese operator on the NGV business.
Currently, Dourogás runs 8 CNG and C-LNG stations and takes part in the large-scale project called Blue Corridors in order to demonstrate LNG as a real alternative to fossil fuels.
ROLE
DOUROGAS will contribute in ECO-GATE by developing and operating 5 enhanced L-CNG refuelling stations with innovative technologies and solutions.
CIDAUT
DESCRIPTION
CIDAUT FOUNDATION is a non-profit foundation, whose aim is to foster the competitiveness and the industrial development of enterprises in the transport and energy sectors and strengthen the industrial network through the promotion of their technological capabilities, so as to enable them to develop new products and processes.
CIDAUT is committed to researching and developing clean technologies for the use of alternative fuels in vehicles. In that sense CIDAUT has two engine test benches with appropriate equipment for pollutant emissions measurement and more than 20 projects about biodiesel, syngas, H2 and LPG fuels.
ROLE
CIDAUT will mainly focus on developing Adsorbent Natural Gas (ANG) solutions which will enable smaller and more comfortable tank designs with thinner walls comparing to traditional CNG tanks.
ENAGAS
DESCRIPTION
ENAGAS is an international standard bearer in the development and maintenance of gas infrastructures and in the operation and management of gas networks. ENAGAS is one of the companies with more LNG terminals in the world. Besides, ENAGAS coordinates the CORE LNGas Hive project for the promotion of LNG as fuel.
ROLE
ENAGAS will be involved in the deployment of refuelling station based on novel mixtures of bio-methane and conventional natural gas.
GASNAM
DESCRIPTION
GASNAM, the Iberian association for gas-powered mobility, has the objective to promote the use of natural gas as a fuel for road, railway and maritime transportation involving all the Iberian Peninsula’s relevant industry segments. The platform promotes CNG as the recommended urban fuel and LNG as the professional fuel of the future.
ROLE
GASNAM, as NGV association, will be a key partner to spread the successful results of the project through the organisation of events and online tools.
USC
DESCRIPTION
The main objective of the Technological Research Institute from USC is to find applied research and technological co-operation in horizontal and interdisciplinary fields. USC will provide the expert advice for the startup of the project on research, development and innovation.
ROLE
Thanks to its extensive technology know-how, USC will contribute in the pilot studies and will analyse the project’s results, as well as collaborate in the deployment plan of the project. USC will also take advantage of its communication channels in order to disseminate the project`s activities and results.

SOLTEL IT Solutions, a company specializing in IT services, was founded in July 2002 offering Technical Assistance and Training in New Technologies services in the Andalusian market.
SOLTEL has an extensive experience in software projects, methodologies, industry certifications and service management. Besides, the company has a great knowledge about management of the processes involved in the development lifecycle, such as software design, coding, source code control, software configuration, management testing, deployment management and product integration.

Naturgy, which is part of Naturgy Energy Group, S.A, is a leading company in the energy sector, pioneering in gas and electricity integration, whose activities include generation, supplying, distributing, commercialisation of natural gas and electricity business. They are involved in a large part of the gas life cycle. Following its extraction, GNE take care of its procurement and transportation to distribute it to customers. The company operates specially in France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxemburg.

ENDESA
DESCRIPTION
ENDESA was established in 1944 in Madrid. Its main business is the production, transmission, distribution and marketing of electricity. The company is also a major operator in the natural gas industry and also performs other services related to energy.
ENDESA holds interests in gas transport and distribution companies. Specifically, they own a 47.18% stake in Compañía Transportista de Gas Canarias, S.A. (Gascan) which is developing two LNG receptions, storage and regasification plants in the Canary Islands. Each has the capacity to store 150,000 m3 of LNG and a regasification capacity of 150,000 m3(n)/h (1.31 bcm/year) of natural gas.

CMTIR
DESCRIPTION
The CMTIR, S.A. is a company with more than 25 years of history, it was constituted in the mid-80s with the goal of providing road services to the international market. As a result of a long experience in the field of road transport of goods, C.M.TIR works with the largest companies in food distribution implanted in the national market and other sectors related to the agro-industrial sector in the processing of meat, fish and vegetables.

CMTIR will purchase or lease Natural Gas Vehicles (NGVs) for the Pilot Operation within the ECO-GATE action. The pilot covers the test and monitoring of advanced and conventional LNG & CNG vehicles to analyse technology performance, vehicle emissions and fuel economy over several routes defined along the selected Core Network Corridors. TPCF was founded in 2000 and the quality and excellence of its services have been contributing to an upward trend and a significant increase in its fleet. In 2006, Ferreirafrio – Transportes Unipessoal, Lda. was founded, a company that collaborates in close cooperation with TPCF and shares with it its quality and commitment to customer satisfaction. Nowadays, TPCF and Ferreirafrio have in their joint cooperation a fleet of 160 vehicles.

TCP started its activity in the transport sector in April 1946. In 1994 the company already owned 87 vehicles and included new services in their portfolio, such as, transport of fuels in bulk and warehousing, logistics and distribution. Nowadays TCP provides services on general goods transportation; transport of powder products in bulk tanks; transport of containers; refrigerated transport; logistics and distribution; and national and International freight.

Nowadays, the company registers a business volume well over 2M€. Europe has around 50% of it, and the remaining 50% is internal market driven. Transportes d’ OSSA TIR are familiar with natural gas vehicles as it has already tested Iveco’s natural gas trucks.
